Dohn and Associates, Inc. provides programming, analysis, and design of acoustics for buildings – including room acoustics, sound-isolation, noise and vibration control, and audiovisual system integration.  Dohn and Associates specializes in facilities for performing and media arts, music education, general education, and corporate headquarters.

Dohn and Associates is a member firm in the National Council of Acoustical Consultants.

Bill Dohn

President and Principal of Dohn and Associates

Bill Dohn has been consulting in building acoustics for over 30 years, and has operated Dohn and Associates since 1995.  Mr. Dohn has provided acoustic analysis and design for hundreds of building projects, including concert halls and theatres, convention centers, libraries, churches, office headquarters, schools, university facilities, music teaching facilities, and recording facilities.  A full resume is available upon request.

Bill Dohn is a member of the Acoustical Society of America and a member of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering, and has served on the Boards of the National Council of Acoustical Consultants and the Concert Hall Research Group.

Harman Experience Center, Harman Pro, Northridge, CA
New 6000 square foot AV demonstration studio, with adjacent training, conference, product showroom, and interactive display spaces.  Bill Dohn worked directly for Harman Pro and with Harman personnel and Ware-Malcomb Architects to optimize the listening quality in all of the project spaces.
Henry W. and Alice Edna Coil School for the Arts, Riverside City College, CA
Full music school, with concert hall, rehearsal rooms, faculty studios, classrooms, and practice spaces.  Bill Dohn had the pleasure of programming, helping to design, and opening this complex building with LPA Architects, Schuler Shook Theatre Consultants, and the exceptional Music Faculty at Riverside City College.
Theatre for Palo Alto High School, CA
New 500 seat theatre with “Constellation” electronic acoustic enhancement system from Meyer Sound Labs.  Bill Dohn coordinated building acoustic design with the DLM/HED Architects, as well as room acoustic design with Meyer Sound Labs to insure an appropriate environment to optimize the Constellation system’s performance.
Remodeling of Valhalla High School, El Cajon, CA
Major remodeling of a very unique (and previously very dated) high school building, including a new theatre.  Bill Dohn collaborated with long-time friends Ken Green at Platt-Whitelaw Architects and Rose Steele at the Ruzika Company (Theatre Consultants) on the design of this project.  Ken, Rose, and Bill began working together on the Lambs Players Theatre on Coronado Island in 1994.
Rehearsal Center for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Ashland, OR
New rehearsal center in downtown Ashland with large acting and dance rehearsal rooms, a recording suite, a voice studio, offices, conference, and gathering spaces by ORW Architects.  Bill Dohn has consulted directly with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival since 1999, on acoustical design for the new Thomas Theatre, acoustical studies and renovations in the Angus Bowmer Theatre, and acoustical improvements to Carpenter Hall.
